7 Super Easy Frozen Treats for Dogs this Summer!

7 Super Easy Frozen Treats for Dogs this Summer!

Are you not very skilled at cooking or baking, or simply just don’t have the time for lavish pet treat recipes with those fancy paw shape molds?
– Well, I can definately relate!
Just for you, here are 7 super easy frozen dog treat ideas for your pup on those hot summer days!
No blender, no recipes, no stack of dirty dishes that you won’t get around to cleaning for days, and it also doesn’t take up a ton of freezer space to chill!
Best of all, they are healthy, yummy, and your dog will be so happy!

1. Watermelon Sticks

Super easy, sweet, and healthy! Dogs LOVE these! Just remember to cut off the rind before freezing. For simple storage use a gallon Ziploc bag.

2. Bananas

You know that bunch of bananas you bought from the store that you’ve probably eaten half of but are now starting to develope brown spots. … Nobody likes those brown spots.
EXCEPT FOR YOUR DOG!
Instead of throwing out these bananas, freeze them! Just take the peal off, bag them, and freeze! For smaller dogs, easily make smaller treats!

3. Pumpkin Cubes

Not just for Halloween!  Frozen pumpkin puree makes a great summertime treat as well!
The puree is easily stored in a can with longer shelf life, making this treat a great one to put together last minute.  Just put the puree in ice cube trays and freeze!  For a second batch put the already frozen cubes into a gallon Ziploc bag and freeze some more.

4. Apple Quarters

It’s well known that dogs love apples. Unfortunately, because the seeds are poisonous to them, giving a dog apples requires some prep time.  You can’t just throw them an apple like a ball, but instead have to cut it up to cut out the seeds.
Since you’re already doing the de-seeding process, why not take one extra step and freeze a few pieces?!  Frozen apple quarters make a great summer-time treat!  You can even mix it up with different types of apples!

5. Chicken Broth Bones

This makes a really cute a delicious treat that your dogs are sure to go crazy over!  All you need is a couple cans of *low sodium* chicken broth from the store (I would normally grab a bunch so that I had them readily available over the summer).  Just pour the broth in the ice trays and freeze.  It is optional to add a treat sticking out – there are pros and cons to both.
No Bone = Easily stackable for freezing multiple trays at once.  But would need to touch the cube with your hand when taking it out.
With Bone = Adds an extra treat for the pups and you don’t have to touch the frozen broth with your hands. Down side is that you can’t stack them to freeze.
*Tip for adding a treat: biscuit bones or a different hard treat work the best because they don’t break off when you take out the treat!*

6. Carrots

This is a great freezer treat for dogs!  So cheap if you buy them in bulk and no prep work at all!  Just put them in the freezer in the bag they came in. Get smaller carrots for smaller dogs and large carrots for larger dogs to reduce the risk of choking hazards.
These are also super NUTRICIOUS for your dog, providing a healthy snack of vitamins and minerals.

7. Peanut Butter Stuffed Kongs

Want a frozen treat that will keep your dog occupied for hours? – Look no further!
Stuff the standard Kong with some peanut butter and freeze!  Add in some apple slices or pieces of hot dog for an extra surprise!  Put the treats in first then fill in the rest with peanut butter, creating a sort of frozen plug.
This is a perfect activity for those pups that are easily bored and destructive!
